The 2012 Mustang is a sleek representation of modern raw power — from its chiseled good looks, sweeping beltline and pronounced curves, to its kicked-up haunches. Mustang sports a power dome hood, distinctive grille and an aggressive front fascia for a look that’s all its own. Employing twin independent variable camshaft timing (TiVCT) and cold air induction, the new 2012 Mustang engines deliver more power, greater off-the-line low-end torque – and increased fuel efficiency.* The V6, feat.uring a die-cast aluminum engine block, boasts 305 horsepower and 31 MPG on the highway, while the 5.0L V8, featuring an aluminum block, pumps out a smoking 412 horsepower and 390 lb.-ft. of torque. And all engines are mated to six-speed transmissions. There’s no such thing as compromise for these ponies. Designed by Ford Racing Technology and now standard in all Mustang models, cold air induction delivers a cold, dense intake charge to the cylinders, which helps achieve increased horsepower. The intake, mounted in an air box that’s unique to Mustang, is extensively sealed to ensure that cold air from the vehicle’s front end is continuously fed to the engine
